In Year 7 there is a ‘Nurture’ group for which students are selected based on academic, social and emotional needs. Students within the Nurture group are taught as one group for the majority of their curriculum time, although for certain subjects (Creative Arts, Languages, Mathematics, PE and Technology) they are grouped with other students.

Literacy Support groups operate in Years 7 and Year 8 for students who enter the school with identified literacy needs. More intensive Language Support is available for students with extreme EAL need across KS3; these students are extracted from English or Foundation subject lessons.

 

PACE (Physical and Creative Education) day KS3

On a PACE day Students have a whole day teaching block of five hours where they follow the National Curriculum guidelines for Physical Education, Art, Music, Dance and Drama. The day comprises of 3 hours PE /Dance, 1 hour of Art and 1 hour of Music/Drama. These subjects are supported by a wide range of extra-curricular activities for each subject.
