DERBY MOOR celebrate a level success

Commenting on today’s A level results, Derby Moor Principal Graeme Smith said

“We are delighted with the success of our students in their A Level results, especially in the subjects of English, Urdu, Panjabi, sociology, psychology, business studies, history and mathematics where we have seen significant improvement since last year.  In addition, vocational subjects at Derby Moor continue to see strong performance and our BTEC sport and business and ICT outcomes are excellent with the majority of students achieving the highest grades. We are also pleased that this year has seen our students achieve the highest ever proportion of A* to B grades as well as our best average grade.  In geography, sociology, further mathematics, history, English, religious studies, Urdu, media studies and Panjabi, every student has achieved an A* to C grade.

“At Derby Moor we operate an inclusive sixth form curriculum where students are placed on the appropriate pathway to succeed and progress to university, a high quality apprenticeship or the world of work. This has been reflected in our outcomes which allow every student at Derby Moor to progress.”

Head of Sixth Form, Wendy Coley added, “Students have responded incredibly well to our culture of high expectations, often going the extra mile in their efforts to achieve some fabulous results. Sixth form life at Derby Moor is not just about results, and our students benefit from a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities. We would also like to thank parents and staff for their unwavering support and commitment, without which we would not be celebrating this success.”

Paul West, CEO of The Spencer Academies Trust, shared in the celebrations, “The Spencer Academies Trust are delighted that Derby Moor Sixth Form continues to improve once again. We’re also thrilled that across our family of schools, more sixth form students than ever before have achieved higher grades, opening doors to their futures. This is a testament to dedicated staff and hardworking pupils and families committed to education.”
