covid update 14th october

Dear Families,

I hope this message finds you and your family in good health. I am writing to update you about two confirmed cases of Covid-19 in our school community, one in Year 8 and one member of staff. We wish them both a rapid recovery. Students who need to self-isolate have been notified and families already have an email containing guidance on what this means for their household. We have worked with Public Health England (PHE) and we are following their advice around self-isolation and actions to take within school and at home. Both cases appear to be unrelated to the previous cases we have had so there is no need for alarm. I would like to thank families for working with us around this and providing timely and accurate information to help us to respond quickly.

Our Year 12 students will return to school Tomorrow (Thursday) and will resume normal lessons. We look forward to welcoming them back to Sixth Form and ready for a Study Skills session during Drop Down Day on Friday. Our online lessons for Year 12 will cease whilst in-class sessions resume again. Again, thank you to our Year 12s and their families for working with us during this period of online learning.

With the local news of an increase in cases across the region, it is vital that our students are sensible and take the necessary precautions to keep our whole community safe. In school they are contained in their bubbles to minimise contact with other Year Groups. We ask for your support in limiting their contacts with others outside of school and maintain social distancing measures wherever possible. A reminder that face coverings are recommended for students in areas where social distancing is not possible. We will be reviewing this constantly in light of local conditions and may make them compulsory if the situation deteriorates across the region.

Best wishes,

Scott Doyle
