Purple Crocus Splash at Derby Moor
On Tuesday, students from the Nurture Group and Inclusion planted 1,500 Purple Crocuses to commemorate all those Rotarians and their friends who, by immunising children against Polio, have nearly eradicated Polio from the World.
One student, from the Nurture Group, said, “It was great fun planting the bulbs. It will be great to see the flowers in the spring.”
The Crocus was chosen as the purple colour matched the dye painted on the fingertip of children who were immunised that day.
The crocuses which were donated by The Rotary Club of Derby South, will be a reminder to us all of the millions of children that have not suffered Polio as a result of the vaccination programme.
