Derby Moor Academy will be closed to ALL STUDENTS from tomorrow (Monday 13th July) and for the rest of the week in the first instance. We are sorry for the short notice, but I am sure you will understand that this due to circumstances beyond our control.
We have taken this decision following a confirmed single case of Covid-19 amongst our school community. The closure is a precautionary measure, taken to minimise risk to the rest of our students, families and staff.
We will review this position before the end of the week and advise about the final week before the weekend, but we would ask parents and carers to consider the possibility of alternative arrangements as a cautionary step.
We will be directly in touch with parents and carers of anyone who has been in immediate contact with the affected individual. Similarly, as a precautionary measure, we advise all parents and carers of students who have been in school in the last fortnight to be vigilant about their child's health and to limit their encounters with others at this stage. As always, we would advise anyone showing symptoms of coronavirus to self-isolate and request a test as soon as possible (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/get-an-antigen-test-to-check-if-you-have-coronavirus/).
I understand this will cause difficulty for many families who were expecting children to be in school. Thank you again for your support and understanding with this. I have said throughout this crisis that we will never compromise the safety and well-being of our community – that is the determining factor behind this decision. The health of our students, their families, our staff and their families is the most important thing right now.
We will post updates on the website this week when we have further information.
