The Government has a commitment to provide additional funding to schools for each Year 7 student who did not achieve the expected levels in the Key Stage 2 national curriculum tests in reading and/or mathematics. The purpose of this funding is to enable schools to deliver additional support, such as individual tuition or intensive support in small groups, for those students that most need it. At Derby Moor we use this funding, in part, to run an after school Prep Club.
This term Prep Club starts on Thursday 5 January for Year 7 students who did not reach the expected levels at KS2 in Maths and Reading. It runs from 3.20-4.20 and sessions are delivered by Derby Moor Maths and English teachers. Letters have been sent home to all students who should be attending Prep Club. Refreshments are provided and transport home can also be provided as long as students inform Mrs Hiscock that they need to use this before the day of Prep Club.
Literacy sessions are in Solidarity with Mrs Watson, Ms Mortimer, Mr Lynch and Mr Stevenson.
Numeracy sessions are in Spirit with Mr Bensley, Mr Press, Ms Harrison and Ms Thorley.
