At Derby Moor Academy, we want students to be as involved as possible with the decisions made that affect them. Therefore, each year group 7 – 13 has a Student Voice team. We aim to make sure that every form group is represented, and these groups meet once a month to discuss current issues and decide on the direction they wish to go. Student Voice are consulted by SLT on all major decisions to be made by the school, and Student Voice surveys are done regularly of the whole school student population to find out how students think their academy could be better.
Mr J Flint, Associate Assistant Vice Principal
After a successful Charity Week, which raised £1,028.11 for our three chosen charities, Student Voice have been back in meetings this half term to look at next year’s Academy Improvement Plan and give their ideas on how we as a school can move forward. We feel that it is vital that students have a say in the next steps taken, as we look to act on suggestions made during our Ofsted report as well as what students have said in student surveys.
