English Competition

We are frequently launching various competitions within the department as a means to extend the pupils’ English skills and to encourage their exploration and enjoyment of the many aspects within a very wide subject area.

Our current success has realised sixty out of a potential seventy-five entries being selected and published within a compilation of short stories as part of a Mini Sagas competition. The competition asked the pupils to create an imaginative tale with a twist as it could only have fifty words, but should still contain an arresting plot line.

We are hoping to emulate this success with the recent competition that many pupils took part in, which allowed our budding poets to create a poem exploring the topic of their generation. We were pleased to receive a large amount of entries and are currently awaiting feedback on our success within the competition.

As a department we regularly receive competition information on a variety of topics and areas within the subject and look forward to a continuing success, allowing pupils to show case the talent at DerbyMoorCommunitySportsCollege.
